This gate is in an icon of Thiruvananthapuram, my home town. This picture is of the entrance of the Art Museum and the zoo . The building was designed by the 19th C. British architect, Chisholm. Thiruvananthapuram is a densely populated small town. Just 28 Sq. Miles in area (about 74 Sq. KM) with a population of 500,000 plus. We have a warm, humid tropical climate year round. Day time temperature ranges form 90-95 °F and nights ranges from 68 - 75 °F. The city had been a prominent place from the 18th century. It was the capital of the Venad kingdom ruled by Marthandavarma Maharaja. When state of Kerala was formed in 1956 ,the city became the capital of the state. |
