Handcrafted With Thought
I work hard. I work smart. My work drives results.

"I am a passionate designer with a lot of love for the craft that I do, and I want to do great things, pushing beyond my capabilities and taking pride in my work. I put people first, and that's how I approach design, my team, and the clients that I work for. I am confident and autonomous, like batman, but I also enjoy teaming up with Robin. I am passionately curious, question everything leaving no stone unturned along the way. I embrace new perspectives, share my ideas, thoughts and embrace those of others. I have fun because I know without it, people rarely succeed in what they do. I have got some experience, been a professional digital designer for 17 years. I am like this, and I am what I am. I like what I do."

MY STORY

"I have no special talent, I am only passionately curious’ said by Albert Einstein."

In a way, that quote sums up my life pretty well. Colours, designs, and animations have inspired my dreams and imagination throughout my childhood. Growing up in India is like taking a dip in a pool of vibrant colours. When I was eight years old, my father brought the first colour television into our home. I was thrilled to see my favourite cartoon characters in colour for the first time. The visual effects of commercial advertisements captured my young imagination at a time when I would have never imagined that they would lead to my career advancement. Several years later, while conversing with a friend one day, the subject of visual effects came up, and I was drawn into an hour-long lecture by my friend on visual effects. The younger Binu asked him how the visual effects were created, and he replied with confidence that it was all done with a 'software tool known as Java'. Despite knowing nothing about Java & visual effects, it took me several years to realize that Java is a programming language, not a tool to create visual effects!

That wrong information, unfortunately, sparked my interest in visual effects! After completing my school education, I went on to study Media Convergence and Visual effects. And the rest is history!!..☺ The first company I joined was Assyst, a software company in my hometown Kochi, India, where I was responsible for designing web pages, graphics, 3D animations, user interfaces, etc. During my time at Assyst, I was always looking for ways to gain a deeper understanding of accessibility and user experience. When I was hired by EY, one of the world's biggest audit services firms, my interests met the ideal platform. Throughout my time at EY, I have become deeply immersed in the world of user experience. I used my best time at EY to get HFI-CUA™ (Certified Usability Analyst) certification. After four years, I felt I had enough experience to take on some management responsibilities and accepted an offer from QBurst Technologies to manage their UX team.

As life is full of surprises, my professional path took a U-turn when my partner accepted a PhD position at Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand. We decided to give our lives a chance and moved to this island paradise. I am now working for Totara Learning in Wellington, New Zealand as a UX designer.
